Ethics Statement: For the record, my adventure in exploring the world of quality online content is for no other purpose than to learn and to share what I find. I only hope that I succeed in my quest.

I believe it was less than 3 years ago that I made the bold statement to a colleague in PR that a blog, in my opinion, is the most useless tool in the online media arsenal. Again, in my humble opinion, I believed bloggers to be nothing more than social media journalists and self obsessed individuals.

Fast forward 3 years … and here I am; the creator of two blogs, owner of a digital communications firm and in pursuit to find the best form of online communications. In the process, I hope to find my own inspiration, as well. It is funny to think that in only 3 years, I will eat my words and use blogs as my primary research tool.

What originally started me on my quest was an appreciation of exceptional online video. In today’s marketplace, it is overly stated that “everyone needs a video for their website.” In fact, this very simple concept caused me to start my own video production company. “Hey, I can buy a video camera and make videos for everyone” (a naive 26-year-old once thought).

The truth is, everyone needs a GOOD video on their website. And, as I would soon find out, that is harder to do than it looks.

I will leave you here with my most familiar muse, Philip Bloom. His blog started with humble beginnings, like my own. But, as you will see in the examples of his work, Mr. Bloom has an eye for photography that few possess. His use of simple camera movements and exceptionally framed shots create videos that captivate any audience. This high quality of online communications is what people need on their website. A true collaboration of art and information. Not just “a video” will do.
